Description:

Equal finest known

    Notes:
  • The Australian 1914 Shilling might not make the list of rare dates but finding one in top grade is another story. It is a bit of a sleeper in the series very similar to the 1914 (L) Florin. Although the mintage figures tell us that they should be relatively easy to find in uncirculated condition, it will typically be an MS63, even in the best collections. There are none finer than PCGS MS65 and only three in that grade. Our coin is one of the trio, and the standout in terms of freshness and strike when compared to the other two coins pictured on the PCGS census. If you are looking for just one finest known to grace your collection then this may be the coin.
