Description:

Rare Early Coconut GRATER Stool, Caroline Islands, Micronesia, Nukuoro Atoll. Carved and engraved hardwood. The anthropomorphic coconut stools were used on the tiny atoll of Nukuoro to assist in the preparation of coconuts; the stool was straddled and the flesh of the nut was shredded using a sharpened shell which was bound to the head of the the stool.
