- The Empire newspaper was first published on the 28 December, 1850 by Henry Parkes 'the father of Australian Federation' and was known for its liberal agenda. The newspaper closed in August, 1858 when Parkes' business failed but publication resumed in May 1859 under new ownership and continued on until 1875. This copy, which was published under Parkes is valuable piece of Australiana. Condition:
- Numerous tears along the folds but remains intact and is relatively clean.
