Lot 94
Number 184/1000 of ten close-up Monochrome Photographs of Elvis housed in a Custom Box labelled May 14, 1956 LaCrosse, Wisconsin
-
Provenance:
- This collection of photographs of Elvis Presley were taken by Vinjie Dahl on the 14th May 1956. The tight-trousered singer was performing in LaCrosse Wisconsin where he incensed the editor of a local paper who filed a complaint with FBI Director J Edgar Hoover that Presley's gyrating performance suggested, in a word, sex. The photograph lay unpublished until the year 2000 when Mr Dahl entered into an agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises to release just 1,000 numbered sets of ten iconic images of a young Elvis in full flight. The sharply focussed monochrome images show a twenty-one year old Elvis on the cusp of launching his stellar career. They capture a time and place never to be repeated. Dimensions:
