- Henry King (1855-1923) was an infant when he emigrated to Australia in 1857 with his parents. He was apprenticed to the Sydney photographer J. Herbert Newman before going on to establish his own studio in partnership with William Slade in 1879. King was acclaimed as a portrait and landscape photographer realising international recognition with a Bronze Medal for Photography at the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair. Like Kerry, King was fascinated with the visage of the Australian Aborigine and travelled New South Wales and Queensland in search of subjects to photograph. Condition:
