- The letter from the Premier's office is enlightening in a few ways. Firstly, although the letter is dated 5th August, 1912 the Premier's Office was still using pre-printed stationery dated 189. Secondly, Hopkins although a hero was such a knockabout character that he reused the back of the letter for a shopping list including rhubarb, parsnips, carrots, lettuce and beans
