A graphic scene showing the aftermath of an enemy attack on a camel-train. A trooper has dismounted his seated camel to attend to a fallen comrade lying prone on the ground. Another trooper clutching a rifle stoops to avoid fire while standing guard while a mounted trooper in the background points backwards to the source of the attack.

Provenance:
- Two signatures are revealed on the back of the painting. One is Gladys Reynell a South Australian born potter and painter who was known to Lambert. The other signature has not been deciphered. Exhibited:

- Born in St Petersburg Russia, Lambert was the son of an American engineer working on the Trans-Siberian Railway and a British mother. The family moved to New South Wales Australia early in his life and he studied Art under the tutelage of Julian Ashton. In 1917 he was appointed an official War Artist travelling to Palestine to record Australia's participation in the war where this painting was executed.
