- Australian Notes:
- Frederick James Elliott was a prolific watercolourist who specialised in marine subjects notably seascapes and ships. His official biography notes that he was active in Sydney from the 1890s to the 1920s but this painting of the H.M.S Queen Mary, a luxury liner which was seconded as a troop carrier during WWII, indicates that he continued his painting much closer to his death in Paddington (Sydney) in 1949. Local folklore was that he would exchange one of his watercolours for a bottle of beer. Condition:
- Fully restored and housed in the original frame which is missing a small piece on one corner.
