Description:

Fine early Lower Sepik Betlenut Mortar, Papua New Guinea. Carved and engraved hardwood and natural pigments. Of diminutive size, this amulet has an expressive form with a bent nose annd almond eyes below its layered coiffure. It retains residue of red ochres and dates from the early-mid 20th. Century.
