early Mexican Death Mask, Mexico. Carved and engraved wood and natural pigment. Mexican Muerto mask, in the form of a skull. It was probably used in Danza Dia de los Muertos (Dance of the Day of the Dead) a classic dance or procession held, in various forms, all over Mexico on November 2nd.
