- A rare collection of photographs of early scenes of Sydney and the surrounding districts. The volume, although undated is an official leather bound presentation which on the content appears to have been compiled between 1890 and 1900. The collection includes photographs of early pictures of the luminaries who featured in the successful establishment of the Colony of New South Wales, including Cook, Banks, Phillip, Hunter, King, Johnson, Marsden and Bligh. Two large panoramas of Sydney conclude the edition. The first panorama measuring 295cm x 38cm is dated November 12, 1885 and looks north west in a broad sweep of the city from Surry Hills to Circular Quay. The second panorama is of similar dimensions and starts in the north east spanning the city from Circular Quay to St James Church and taking in the Botanical Gardens with Kings Cross in the background.
