- The 1937 Crown was initially struck to commemorate the coronation of George VI but that significance was diminished by the release of a 1938-dated coin of the same design. The diamond-shaped stops in the colons in the reverse legend provide an intriguing connection to the early coins of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II which have similar diamond-shaped stops.
