- Struck to commemorate the visit of H.R.H. Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, to Australia in October 1867. The Duke visited Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane on the H.M.S. Galatea. On the return visit to Sydney on March 12,1868 he was shot by Henry James O'Farrell while on a picnic. The bullet entered his back but proved not to be fatal.
