Following up from our recent offering of coins from British East Africa in this Sale we are switching sides of the African Continent and are providing collectors with a superb offering of coins from British West Africa. British West Africa was the collective name for the territories of modern-day Sierra Leone, Nigeria, The Gambia and Ghana which were British colonies during the 19th Century. The provenance of the coins can be traced back to specialist collectors like Remick, Ford and Freehill who applied their exacting standards to choose the best coins available for their collections. Many of the coins remain unsurpassed today in the pecking order of finest known examples.
